Jawatan Kosong MUAR - Daerah Muar located in the northwest of the state of Johor, Malaysia. Muar district consists of Muar town itself and also sub-district of Tangkak. Muar borders Malacca in the northern, eastern and Segamat in Batu Pahat in the south.
Muar area of 2346.12 sq km with a population of 328.695 people (census 2000). The word 'Muar' is believed to come from the estuary. Another possibility is that it is derived from the Hindu word "Muna" and "Ar" means respectively and Three Rivers, reflecting the existence of the Muar River that flows through the city and is also the longest river in Johor.
New administrative center known as Muar 2 is planned to be built in Muar. The new administration center will house all the departments of State and Federal Government and is expected to close in the city of Muar Muar Bypass.
Muar is rich in history but in the absence of a perfect historical records and archeological evidence, most of the past Muar unknown. Reliable history of Muar started much earlier than the Malacca Empire. In the year 1361, there are records that indicate Muar is part of the territory of the Majapahit Empire. Another entry mentions that Parameswara, the founder of Malacca empire, never established settlements in Pagoh, Ulu Muar after escaping from Temasek before heading to Melaka.Muar also is the only location of the tomb of the Malacca Sultanate, Sultan Alauddin Shah Riayat 1 (1477 - in 1488). Tomb of the Malacca Sultanate others were destroyed by the brutal by the Portuguese during their occupation of Malacca. Muar was also instrumental in advancing stem the Portuguese army in 1511. To address the Portuguese fleet attack, bentayan Fortress was built by the Sultan of Malacca to rebut attacks from the sea.
